Foods usually allowed
- Fruits: banana, apple, pomegranate, orange and more — easy energy.
- Dairy: milk, yogurt and paneer.
- Root vegetables: potato, sweet potato and pumpkin.
- Flours: buckwheat (kuttu) and water chestnut (singhara) for puri, paratha and pakoda.
- Nuts and seeds: almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds.
- Seasoning: cumin, sendha namak, black pepper, green chilli, ghee.
- Sabudana: for khichdi and vada.
Foods usually avoided
- Wheat, rice and regular lentils
- Non-vegetarian food
- Onion and garlic in many homes
- Caffeine, alcohol, packaged junk food
- Regular table salt — use rock salt instead
